5/29/06 One year ago, due to personal setbacks, I had turned the operation of Hearts for Heroes over to the most wonderful woman who was a volunteer at that time. I no longer had time to devote to the operations of the project I had started. I want to let everyone know how deeply grateful I am to Linda Weeks, for her heart of gold, for all her work and for keeping the high standards and quality of the project. She is one in a million. I also want to thank the fantastic guilds and other volunteers for their heart donations. The project continues it's loving way because of all of you. Linda continues to send out hearts and fulfills requests. At this time shipments are being sent out to National Guard units. In short order, almost 13 thousands hand made hearts will have been sent to Iraq and Afghanistan. -River 5/26/05 We are averaging sending 400 to 500 hearts out per month to Iraq now. We have addresses to be able to send hearts out each week. Currently preparing to send 400 to another Family Readiness Group. 4/24/05 We have sent 200 out to a National Guard Unit and 300 more to a Marine Division in Iraq 4/21/05 We are preparing to send over 1000 to the Navy 4/10/05 We have sent out several hundred hearts to our wounded soldiers. 4/01/05 Completed previous commitment for Marine Division. 3/01/05 We are currently working to fulfill a large request of over one thousand hearts for a Marine Division in Iraq. 2/20/05 We have filled a request by a Family Readiness Group in Fort Bragg, NC. of 104 hearts . |
